Today I turned 45 years old. I am not ashamed to admit it, but I am starting to feel it. For me, it is a funny age as it is half way from 40 as well as being half way to 50. Obviously, I hear you say, but I suppose I am saying that I feel more 40 than 50, if you are still following me.
Now I know that compared to Methuselah in the Bible I am still a young pup, but let's face it, the chances of me now being picked to start for Chelsea are fast diminishing. Yet I have hope after reading a story about another 45-year-old who has shed 200 lbs to win a spot to wrestle others half his age.
Terence Haynes finished the season Saturday with a 2-13 record, though he plans to throw the shot put for the track team this spring and hopes to return to wrestling next season.
"I feel that once I get more experience behind my belt, my records will improve tremendously," said Haynes, who returned to college after a quarter-century break to complete a degree in computer information systems."
At the end of the day, as the old cliche goes, you are as young as you feel. The trouble is I am suffering from a terrible cold at the moment, so I feel older than younger. Hopefully that will change shortly.
Meanwhile, thanks to everyone who has wished me Happy Birthday via Facebook. You are loved.
