Thanks to Maggie Dawn who has picked up the story in yesterday's Telegraph on Anglican Bishop Graham Dow who believes the bad weather is an act of God's judgment on us.
He comments: "This is a strong and definite judgment because the world has been arrogant in going its own way," he said. "We are reaping the consequences of our moral degradation, as well as the environmental damage that we have caused."
Have a read for yourself and ponder his words. Meanwhile, the words of the Psalmist ring in my ears: He rains on the righteous and the wicked. However, the problem I have is how does the Bishop know this God's judgement? Has he heard directly from God? And where does this thinking stop? Is AIDS also God's judgment on our moral decline? If so, why take it out on some of the poorest people in the world when Scripture says He is for them? Big questions. Small brain. But important theology to grapple with.
Need a coffee from Nero's. Where's my brolly?
